The French gentleman thief, Assane Diop, is back in Lupin Part 2. Omar Sy slips back into his character and picks up where Lupin – Part 1 left off. Just like the first part, Netflix has once again crafted unexpected and spectacular scenes in this series. “Lupin” proves once more in this second part that the best Netflix Originals don’t always have to be American productions.
The first part of “Lupin” concluded with the kidnapping of Assane’s son, Raoul. The second part continues from that point. Raoul has been abducted, and Assane, along with Agent Guedira, is on a mission to rescue his son. Meanwhile, the police continue to pursue Assane for the theft of the necklace belonging to the wealthy Pellegrini family.
Hubert Pellegrini is still determined to catch Assane in “Lupin” – Part 2, preferably before he is exposed for his involvement in insurance fraud and the death of Assane’s father, Babakar Diop. The cat-and-mouse game is brought to a climax. Fortunately, Assane has a few tricks up his sleeve, inspired by his hero, Arsène Lupin. With these, he manages to outsmart not only Pellegrini but also the police, except for his fellow Lupin fan, Agent Guedira.
Onward to Part 3!
The cast and crew of “Lupin” have once again delivered excellence. It starts with the stunning backdrop of Paris, visible throughout the series. Omar Sy embodies the charming gentleman thief once more, but this time, you see him using his charm not only to escape tight spots but also to strategically build relationships with people. He’s the perfect actor for the job.
Did you enjoy the first part? Brace yourself! In “Lupin” – Part 2, Netflix adds an extra layer of intrigue. This is evident, among other things, in the cinematography. The city of Paris is beautifully portrayed, but the camera always remains squarely focused on the cast. This results in stunning visuals that elevate the series to new heights.
The only downside to “Lupin”? Netflix has once again chosen to make only 5 episodes. This means the series is perfect for a satisfying binge-watch, but it will leave you craving for more. But here’s some good news: Lupin – Part 3 is on the horizon! The release date is yet to be announced, but we can look forward to another season filled with the clever schemes of the gentleman thief, Assane ‘Lupin’ Diop.
