The series is set in a world where proven physics phenomena suddenly can’t be proven anymore. And physicists are taking their own lives en masse. A group of friends, consisting of graduate physicists and other bright minds, find themselves in the midst of the problem. Their teacher is one of the physicists who suddenly takes her own life. It brings the friends closer together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Years earlier during the Cultural Revolution in China, an imprisoned physicist is tasked with sending a signal into space, hoping for a response from extraterrestrial life. She gets the response, but Ye Wenjie keeps her contact a secret. She invites the aliens to Earth. All of this results in a cult-like situation where physicists are recruited based on their skills in an advanced VR-game. Of course, the group of friends find themselves in the middle of this. Can they come up with a solution before the aliens reach Earth?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
